Don’t we women always envy men that they could scratch their crotches in public and yet do not get embarrassed? For the past few days, my ass has been really itchy. I suspect I might have worms. I thought of buying some de-worming medicine, but I doubt I have worms. If I do have worms in my system, they would have a real feast from the food I have been taking! And hosts for worms are generally not this fat!
A friend complained to me that she has been having numbness in her hands. I told her to see a doctor. She got herself health insurance instead, just in case if she does have a stroke, at least she doesn’t have to worry about expenses. I am amazed that some people would get insurances only when they felt their health is deteriorating. Sometimes, it’s just too late. Some sickness does not have symptoms and would come out and bite you in the ass when you least expected it.
A friend told me his doctor found out the cholesterol level in him in so high that he’s now at the borderline whether or not to be on prescription. I told him to take oats every morning before breakfast if he doesn’t want to start taking prescription pills. I doubt he listens to me. For the record, skinny people do get high cholesterol. Sizes do not matter when it comes to cholesterol levels.
My mom has been very obstinate when it comes to prescription medication. I don’t understand where she gets the idea of reducing intake of hypertensive medicine from three tablets per day to two. She said, she felt fine without taking “overdose”. Besides, hypertensive medicines are bad for kidneys in the long run. She had been taking tablets for the past 25 years, for goodness’ sake! I said, it’s not overdose when a doctor gave you the prescription of 3 tablets per day!! She’s now her own doctor, taking only the third pill IF she feels dizzy. I resorted to nagging at her for her obstinacy and at the same time, blame her for giving me her genes of stubbornness (and also naggi-ness!).
A friend committed suicide 4 years ago due to depression. It’s really sad when such things happened. There is actually no cure for depression, according to her. She was hospitalized half a year for her condition - she was depressed and partially schizophrenic. She said the medication don’t work. They just make you sleepy, probably you sleep more, you tend to be in better moods.
She finally snapped out of it when she realized that, there is no such thing as being perfect. She tried her best to stay happy. With good friends surrounding her, supporting her, she finally made it through and remained optimistic for many years. It was disheartening that she reverted back to depression when she gotten herself a high paying job, of course packaged with more stress and hard times.
It’s really sad that she decided to end her life over a job. One should not be too dishearten when it comes to shit jobs. I had shit jobs too. They gave me high blood pressure and I was at the verge of depression as well. But I made a choice. I screwed the job even with commitment of a new car, ended jobless but immediately found a job with help of supportive friends, family members and of course, a bit of blessings from God.
Well for those who are depressed and have no one to turn to, you can always call the befrienders.

Depression is not something to be ashamed of. It is actually very common among us living in a hectic urban life. But alot of ppl dare not seek for professional help coz they do not want to be labeled as “mad people”.
It is kind of sad when that happen. DEPRESSION IS NOT MAD! If anyone has the following signs, it is best to advise him/her to seek for professional help:
1. Depressed Mood
2. Decreased Interest or Pleasure
3. Weight Changes
4. Sleep Disturbances
5. agitated and restless or physically slowed down in their movements.
6. Fatigue
7. Feelings of Worthlessness or Guilt
8.diminished ability to think, concentrate or make decisions.
9. Thoughts of Death
I was talking to a friend who is a doctor in UK, he told me the profession who has the HIGHEST rate of depression in UK is actually MEDICAL DOCTORS…. ironic, isn’t it?

Haha! At least your mom still take 2 of out 3 pills. As for my mom, she goes to the doctor, get the medicines and then she decided not to take them. She complained that the doctor always gave her the same type of medicines.
About depression, I once asked my hubby why didn’t people with depression just go for a run everyday. They are lack of endorphine. A natural drug from the body that makes you happy. He said most people don’t know that exercise can actually make them happy. Unfortunately, some depression is too serious that one thinks that the world is better without them.
Sorry to hear about your friend. I had a friend back in 1994 who commited suicide as well.

Edmund: One should not be shy or embarrass to seek help if he or she has depression. It’s somewhat an urban sickness i guess – coupled with stress from work, living environment and current society expectations. It’s good to have circles of supportive friends to counter this. I am not surprised if mostly medical doctors are the ones having depression – imagine have to deal with death and grief on daily basis.. and the lives of your patients were in your hands.. I could not imagine.
ai shiang: Sorry to hear about your friend. It’s never easy to lose a friend that way. I guess human are social animals. We have to mingle around to talk to people no matter what. And one can be lonely even if he or she has many friends.
I think generally.. older generation are stubborn lot. They probably tell you – I eat salt more than you eat rice! LOL!

As for depression, everybody is bound to face it at some point in time during your life. One just needs to learn how to deal with it, I guess…
