Making My Day

Today at work, there were lots of calls on my handphone from the banks, chinese women, insurance salesman and a few others which I did not even bother to pick up.

Since the Beeper (my boss) was away, I spent time cleaning my cubicle which I had been putting off.

At about 4.00 pm, another anonymous person called me on the phone. Since there was no number on it, I press cancel and did not want to answer.

Later, at 4.09 pm, there was a phone call again on my handphone. This time, I picked it up.

Me (sounded pissed): Hello??
The caller
: Is this Ms Cheng?
Me: Yes!!
The caller: I am calling from Fan Lin. I have some flowers to you.
Me: Ah???
The Caller: Yes. Flowers for you. What time you finish work today?
Me: Err.r… ahh…. Err… 5.30 pm.
The Caller: I might be running a bit late. Is 6 pm ok for you? You will wait for awhile?
Me: Ah? Can you send tomorrow instead ah?
The Caller: No leh.. I am on my way.
Me: Ok lah.
The Caller:
I will try to rush before 5.30 pm lah.
Me: Ok. Thanks.

When the flowers arrived, there wasn’t much drama as I hoped it would be! Attention whore! Hahahah!

But, my neighbour colleague was gushing over them and grinning ear to ear as if she were the one receiving them.

One si lai said, when her husband proposed to her some years ago, he didn’t even give her flowers. Cin cai cin cai only! So she was very envious.

Mr Yum Kong didn’t like the flower arrangements. It looked odd. Maybe he’s just jealous that he didn’t get one.

Mr Chee Cheong Fan (a senior manager in my office who tapao some Anson chee cheong fan for us, and hence the nickname got stuck on him) was delighted to see the flowers and asked if it was my birthday.

A cute colleague took pictures of the flowers with his handphone.

The secretary who got possessed by ghosts teased me if I had a secret admirer.

A friend asked if it was from Mr Tattoo Eye Brow.

Another friend was curious if the person who sent me these flowers, tersalah makan ubat today. (Translation: Took the wrong medication).

Some colleagues asked what the canes are for and wondered if I like S&M? (It’s good to recycle the canes to whip the asses of the three little monsters in my house! Very practical indeed!)

When I told another friend, I got flowers. He asked, wreath or bouquet?

My sister and my cousin, Gas Stove asked if I bought the flowers for myself? HAR HAR HAR!

Datin wanted to marry the sweet guy who sent me the flowers.

Of course, I was partially surprised. I knew about this on Monday night. I arm twisted somebody’s arm to send me the flowers! But I didn’t know he would do it. And I didn’t write the two memes on purpose – Favorite Flowers: Lilies and “When a guy promises to do something for you, listen first. 99% of the time, whatever he had promised you, might not materialized.” It was purely coincidental. (Yeah right!)

Irregardless what other people think, one thing for sure; these lilies surely made my day. It sent me grinning ear to ear – grins bigger than Mr Joker himself!

Thank you so much. You know who you are.
