The Great Love
Love comes in many forms. Love for your parents, for your countrymen, for friends, for babies, for animals, for movies, for food, for coffee, for one and another, so on and so forth.
In most cases, we love without any reasons at all. We are instinctively programmed to love our parents; it goes without saying, for friends; as no man’s an island, for animals; that is why we eat them (Heh! Kidding!) etc. They are almost clear cut – whether you love or hate them. There is no in between.
There is one love and no one could predict. That is love for another person, whom you would risk everything and every other love in this world for him/her.
What is so great about this love?
Paulo Coelho, always has the best say when it comes to love. In one of his much loved book, the Alchemist; he said, “Love is the pure language of the world…A language without words…the one true language of the universe. It requires no explanation, just as the universe needs none as it travels through endless time.”
A conversation late last night with a friend triggered some serious thinking.
I would like to rephrase the words when I had said in one of my earlier posts, as if love is everything. I have seen if not much, no less heartaches caused by this lethal thing called love. Many people would die for it, many thirst for it, many said; they can’t live without it, although there are still some who said they can live without it, which I think it’s merely an egoistic defense in their unattainable quest for love.
No matter how prepared and prudent we are, we will never be adequately prepared for the greatness of the language of the world. It slips into you unaware, and in no time, overtakes everything in you to be in control. I guess that is how the phrase – “fallen hopelessly in love” came about. You will do things beyond your comprehension just to appease the new emotion in you.
For a friend who worried about taking love risks and anxious about the future, Paulo Coelho has a message for you – “If you can concentrate on the present, you’ll be a happy man…the secret is here in the present. If you pay attention to the present, you can improve upon it. And if you improve on the present, what comes later will also be better…Each day, in itself, brings with it an eternity.”
I always believe everyone ought to have or give a chance to love. “Love is the force that transforms and improves the soul of the world.”
Probably it is not my time yet to experience such great love. It is hard to find a kindred spirit. I have not given up hope that love would eventually finds me in the end. By that time, I better be ready and strong enough to embrace its greatness.
